2019 ram. 1000lbft torque and 35k trailer rating!!
30 years ago to have a 200 - 250hp 1 ton pickup was the big thing.
My dad had a 1987 Chevy 1 ton with a 454, witch was a complete turd. He ended up putting a under drive/overdrive gearbox behind the 4 speed that came with the truck to help him tow.
He did haul a 4640 on a tri axle goose neck from Isanti to Wahpeton and back, and never got stopped.
I love my cummins. They are the best motor ever made. These new trucks make me 🤮 . Must be a competition between the manufacturers who can be ugliest.
Dad's early 24v has been warmed over. It's last dyno run it made 450 hp and close to 950 ftlbs at rear tires. Put a new pump on so now it needs injector uprades etc all over again. Should tip him over 500 hp & 1000. Only thing I wish it had from the new trucks is their brakes. It averages 24-26 mpg down the interstate, new trucks don't even come close to that.
yeah lol. I think my 2003 was rated for like a 12k trailer? yeah the old big block gas engines! had a local guy with v-10 dodges that would run pretty fast but not with 35k lb trailers.
my 2003 cant compete with the 2015. the new truck is 10k lbs so its a lot more truck but the aisin tranny is a lot better at towing then the 4 speed.
