I have been looking pretty hard for a 4630 or a 4640, but everything that i thought was reasonably priced was pretty well whopped. The local auction company that gets 80% of farm auction within 100 miles of here always seems to squeeze out 2-3,000 more than what things are really worth. I have always liked the Whites, and i already have the Oliver and two gleaners, so when this 2-155 came up for pennies on the dollar of the Deeres i was looking at i pulled the trigger. I was at work, my brother had the day off, so i sent him about 75 miles west to go take a look at it. he ended up buying it and drove it back home. The motor runs perfect, a few hydraulic drips and a the rear glass is cracked, but overall i am very pleased. i could have bought 3 of these to one 4630.
Thats great! Cummins power? What does it use for a transmission?
Its got a 478 Hercules motor. its really torquie, but im told its a drinker. Should be turning 160 PTO HP. The local high school has a dyno, and i am friends with the ag teacher, so im hoping to get it tested when schools resume. Its got 6 forward speeds and 2 reverse on the gear transmission with a 3 speed powershift for each gear. so 18 forward speeds and 6 reverse. Motors supposedly have a shorter rebuild life, unless done with some upgraded parts. but the transmissions and rear ends are considered bullet proof and are one of whites best.
Ok!
If you're not pulling the snot out of it everyday it should be just fine!
Nice tractor there Tyler!
The only thing wrong with those series of White's is they aren't as pretty as the newer Series 3's.
I was looking at a 2-135 last fall, for an auger tractor. I was looking for a tractor with a right side door or an open station.
But I went with a 1066. I plan on taking the cab off this summer.
