Was talking to a guy the other day and I mentioned I was going to do oats and Alfalfa and he said that he's got a guy that tried a cover crop instead of Oats and it worked awesome. I gave him one more cutting a feed off the field and the Alfalfa came very well behind.

Never thought of that might have to be giving that a try

Did he plant a cover crop and plant alfalfa after?  What cover crop did he use?

Sounded like they used annual grasses seeded with the alfalfa.

Why don't you plant your oats and take it off before it goes to head and wrap it. They will love it

that's the plan!  our area always raised the oats for grain for calf feed or sale but them markets are gone.  no cut it as a grass crop for a first crop cutting.  1 more cutting in a year  has a lot of value to me, or I sell it for a cash crop.
